TcII is a DTU as old as TcI, but it has been sampled much more rarely. The strains belonging to this DTU carry mitochondrial genes (mtTcII mitochondrial cluster) whose sequences show substantial genetic divergence from TcI. Moreover, this DTU presents a much lower genetic diversity than TcI.
